Oceanside CA– The Oceanside Public Library invites families to have fun with science as part of the annual children’s summer reading program, titled “Fizz, Boom, READ!” The science-themed programs include stories and hands-on experiments that encourage students to keep up with both their reading and science skills while on break from school. There will be four stations where the weekly topic can be explored and experienced. Fridays at 2:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Library, at 330 North Coast Highway, the children’s area will host the following science themed events:
- June 13- Fun with Wild Weather Science
- June 20- Fun with Exploding Science
- June 27- Fun with Sensational Senses
- July 11- Fun with LEGO Engineering
- July 18- Fun with Plant and Flower Science
- July 25- Fun with Body Science
- August 1- Fun with Color Science
- August 8- Fun with Animal Science
Tuesdays at 4:00pm at the Mission Branch Library, at 3861-B Mission Avenue, the following science-themed events will be in the Community Room:
- June 24- Fun with Sensational Senses
- July 22- Fun with LEGO Engineering

Family Movie, A Bug’s Life plus the book The Hungry Caterpillar
The Oceanside Public Library will show a family movie, A Bug’s Life, on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Civic Center Library Community Room, 330 North Coast Highway. A Bug’s Life is rated G. This event will also feature a special guest character visit from Eric Carle’s beloved book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This event is free and for all ages.
