TrueCare, a nonprofit community health center serving North San Diego and South Riverside counties, welcomed Jimmy Figueroa as its donor relations manager last month.
Figueroa will drive fundraising initiatives, orchestrate donor campaigns, and cultivate community connections to elevate awareness about TrueCare’s comprehensive services, programs and resources.
Before joining TrueCare, he was the executive director for Operation Hope North County. As an Oceanside native, Figueroa promoted social well-being as a program manager for a regional community clinic and earned the respect of local nonprofit and government leaders. Figueroa is also a candidate for the Oceanside City Council in 2024.
Figueroa also serves as co-chair for the North County Community Leadership Team with Live Well San Diego and has been a board member for the MiraCosta College Foundation since 2018.
Part of Figueroa’s duties with TrueCare is to collaborate closely with Lance Evans, TrueCare’s public information and philanthropy officer. As of January, Evans spearheads TrueCare’s philanthropy department. Together, Figueroa and Evans aim to foster connections with financial supporters, whose essential contributions drive TrueCare forward in breaking down barriers to health equity.
Briana Cardoza, chief business development officer at TrueCare, emphasized the significant role of philanthropy in fueling TrueCare’s mission to improve community health outcomes.
“As a patient-centric nonprofit organization, philanthropy is instrumental in propelling TrueCare’s growth and extending our reach,” Cardoza said. “Through Jimmy and Lance’s stewardship, we aim to amplify our message, extending affordable and inclusive health care options across San Diego and Riverside counties.”
Figueroa expressed his enthusiasm for championing TrueCare’s mission.
“I’m thrilled to help strengthen TrueCare’s impact, ensuring that individuals and families can get trusted health care services, when and where they need it,” he said. “As an advocate for TrueCare, I look forward to expanding our footprint and reaching more people within the community.”
