Unsigned filmmakers from around the world made their debut on the big screen Aug. 22-25 at the historic Star Theatre for Oceanside’s third annual International Film Festival. Fifty films from nearly every genre were shown at the four-day movie marathon, filling up as many as 22 total hours of screening time.
A red-carpet welcome and reception on Aug. 22 kicked off the festival, with guest appearances by Golden Globe winner Sally Kirkland, Tommy Sablan from Jeff & Jer, and voice-over artist Jon St. John. Following the performance of the Mission San Luis Rey Aztec Dancers was a special screening of “Working Class,” an OIFF best picture in 2012.
Guests could choose from a variety of specially themed screening blocks to suit their tastes or even attend an educational workshop to learn about screenwriting, copyright and promotion.
Winners of this years jury awards include “Patrol Base Jaker” for Best Picture and Best Full Length Documentary, “The Racket Boys” for Best Narrative Feature Film and “Turns” for Best Narrative Short Film.
