Harry Anderson was born in Des Moines, Iowa December 14, 1915 and graduated from high school there in 1932. He then bought his first Model A Ford for $125.00 and began a lifelong attraction to the 1929 to 1931 Ford Model A automobile. On his 100th birthday in 2015 he drove his current Model A around his neighborhood. He belonged to the San Diego Palomar A’s Model A Ford Club until his death.
After graduating from high school, Harry obtained a position at Boeing Aircraft in Des Moines. This position exempted him from the first draft in World War II but within 3 years he was summoned to the army. His company was on board ship when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and he was assigned to the first occupancy of Japan in 1945.
He and his wife moved to Los Angles after his return from Japan and lived there until he retired and moved to San Marcos, Ca.in 1972. His wife preceded him in death though Harry was a resident of Madrid Manor for 45 years. His generosity and support of the Foothills School and to his community was well known and he will be sorely missed by his family of 2 children, 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who live in the Modesto, California area.
