Oceanside CA— Local skydiving team Oceanside FLO is getting ready to head to the Skydiving World Cup next month in Germany as part of the prestigious U.S. Parachute Team, the nation’s most elite aerial athletes. Oceanside FLO is joining a U.S. delegation of more than 40 of the country’s top skydivers to compete against the best in the world at the 2017 Fédération Aéronautique Internationale World Cup in Saarlouis, Germany, August 8-12. The team trains locally at GoJump Oceanside.
Team FLO is a three-time national champion, winning gold for the past three years at the U.S. Parachute Association National Skydiving Championships. The team competes in artistic freeflying. In this event, three-person teams, including two performers and a camera flyer, perform an aerial acrobatic routine, freefalling together in every imaginable orientation, carefully choreographed for speed and excitement.
FLO members are Mike Bohn, 35; Colby McNeil, 28; and videographer Chad Ross, 32. The team represented the United States at the 2016 World Parachuting Championships last year at Skydive Chicago, where they placed fourth, barely missing the podium.
