Oceanside CA- The Scholastic Surf Series, Middle School State Surf Championships is currently underway at the Oceanside South Jetty.
Surf is presently 1-3 feet but the weather is amazing. No May gray, yet. Although surf conditions are not the best, these young surfers are putting on quite a show.

Twenty Nine (29) Middle Schools from San Diego County as well as other top middle schools from Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz are in town for the event which wraps up the Scholastic Surf Series 2013-14 schedule. The middle schools from up and down the California coast will come together in Oceanside this weekend looking to be crowned state champions in 6 divisions: Boys Shortboard, Girls Shortboard, Boys Longboard, Girls Longboard, Coed Bodyboard and Overall Team.
SSS sponsors are there to support the kids with prizes and awards: Bodyglove, Eco Water, Hoven Vision, Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club, Sima Corp., Sticky Bumps, SuperBrand Surf boards, The Wavehouse and the Western Surfing Assoc. (WSA). Awards will be given for Outstanding Sportsmanship and Boys and Girls Scholarship.
