Oceanside CA- The Pirates scored 35 first quarter points spoiling Homecoming for their Avocado League opponent, Vista High School. A late fourth quarter pick six by Vista’s Nate Johnson ended Oceanside’s bid for a shut-out, final score 38-7. The Pirates have not played a home game in over a month. Played two straight undefeated teams and not much changes next week as Oceanside travels to Ramona to take on the undefeated Bulldogs (7-0).
Fallbrook at El Camino
El Camino was able to move the ball early against Fallbrook and drove the ball inside the 15 yard line of the Warriors. The Warrior defense picked up and held El Camino to a 4th and 3 when they sent in the field-goal unit. The kick was a fake and El Camino’s CJ Simmons was stopped two inches short of a first down on the Fallbrook 9 yard line. Fallbrook took over on downs and on their first play from scrimmage, the Warriors Trevino Cordona sprinted 91 yards for a Fallbrook touchdown. The six points ended a Fallbrook scoring drought that had lasted more than 8 quarters of football. Fallbrook looked to sour El Camino’s Homecoming when they capitalized on an El Camino muffed punt at the Wildcat 33. Fallbrooks, Hayden Loet ran the ball in from 31 yard out and the Warriors led the Wildcats 14-0 in the second quarter. El Camino got on the board with 4 seconds remaining in the half when Sergio Lopez hit Chris Grimes on a three yard pass play leaving the score 14-7 at the half.
The 14 points were all the Warriors were able to score as El Camino shut out Fallbrook the rest of the game and added 21 points of their own beating the Warriors, 28-14.
Up next for the Wildcats is a Carlsbad team that started the season 4-0 but has dropped their last two. Friday the 25th,7:00 PM
