Oceanside CA— A vegan chef at a brewpub known for their classic house-made brews may sound totally unheard of, but Bagby Beer Company’s vegan executive chef Robert Gaffney would beg to differ. Leading a revolution to elevate and amplify plants on the menu, Bagby Beer—led by Chef Robert, has added a delicious array of new plant-based options into the brewery’s brunch, lunch, and dinner menus. New vegan menu items now include burgers, pizza, and even corndogs. Die hard meat lovers need not fret —there is still plenty for carnivores.
Chef Robert joined the Bagby Beer team in 2016 after spending decades in local professional kitchens. Along with award-winning crafted beer, wine, and seasonal cocktails, the Oceanside eatery proudly offers an almost entirely from-scratch kitchen, with nearly everything on the menu made in house except for locally sourced bread and tortillas. Bagby Beer is committed to sourcing the highest quality ingredients and to preparing and presenting them in the most thoughtful, creative, and delicious ways.
The Bagby Beer team created plant-based takes on popular dishes to best serve its customers and their growing preferences for fresh, healthy food. New vegan fan favorites include Sriracha Corn Dogs ($11) made with spicy cornmeal batter and vegan hot dogs served with house made mustard and smoked tomato-bourbon ketchup, Anything’s Possible Burger ($16) featuring the Impossible Foods patty, topped with shredded romaine, house pickle, red onion, Chef Robert’s Awesome sauce, and vegan American cheese on a whole wheat bun, and The Slacktivist ($15.50), a pizza topped with squash, Kalamata olive, mushroom, asparagus, tomato, pesto, and vegan cheese on their house made pizza crust and fired in their pizza oven. During brunch vegan guests can dive into the Vegan Hash ($12) made with North African Ras El Hanout spiced vegetables, poblano, soyrizo and topped with tofu scramble, roasted red pepper and basil.
