Del Mar CA— For the amateur homebrewer who loves beer and the homebrew community, the Homebrew Competition at the San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons|Vons, is just for you. With more than 800 entries, this is a fun competition that offers homebrewers an opportunity to have their beer professionally judged and receive quality feedback, meet other homebrewers, and win ribbons and bragging rights. The entry deadline is April 28 and you may enter at sdfair.com. Entries may be delivered on May 7, or shipped to the Fairgrounds.
All amateur homebrewers must be 21 years and older and may not enter if considered a professional brewer or have applied for State or Federal licensing. Industry professionals will judge the competition brews in a closed, blind judging session. After judging, exhibitors will be invited to a private Awards Ceremony and Exhibitor Tasting on June 4, where they will be able to taste the competition beers, pick up tasting notes and meet fellow Homebrewers.
New this year, the competition division and classes have been rewritten in accordance with 2015 BJCP Style Guidelines. Additionally, Abnormal Beer Co. of San Diego has agreed to brew the 2017 Best of Show Beer.
