Oceanside CA— More than 100 entries made the trek up the Coast Highway in front of an estimate 20,000 people who lined the parade route on Saturday for the annual Oceanside Independence Parade. The event, produced by MainStreet Oceanside was carried live by KOCT and they will be replaying the event numerous times throughout July and on demand at KOCT.org. Jim Schroder and Kristi Hawthorne provided KOCT commentary from a new perch overlooking the 2019 parade.
This years theme was a repeat of last years “Hometown Heroes” with Colleen O’Harra, former Oceanside City Council member and co-founder of the Women’s Resource Center; Larry Hatter, chair, board member and volunteer of numerous community organizations; and Max Disposti, executive director of the North County LGBTQ Resource Center being honored.
Along with the many entries on the ground, the crowd was treated to several low altitude passes by REACH Air Ambulance.
