A San Dieguito Union High School District associate superintendent has received accolades from the Association of California School Administrators for his work in educational services, the district announced Feb. 10
Associate Superintendent of Educational Services Byran Marcus has been named 2025 administrator of the year by ACSA’s Region 18 Central Office in recognition of his dedication to public education, according to a district news release. He will be formally honored by ACSA in May.
“With over 20 years of distinguished service to SDUHSD as a teacher and administrator, Mr. Marcus exemplifies visionary leadership rooted in an unwavering commitment to student success,” district Superintendent Anne Staffieri said in the news release.
District officials noted Marcus’ restructuring of the Educational Services Department in an effort to address students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
“His empathetic and solutions-focused leadership style has instilled a ‘can-do’ spirit that permeates the district’s teaching and learning environment,” the district stated in its announcement.
Marcus’ work extends to other local and statewide efforts, the district stated. He has promoted San Dieguito’s goals of equity, academic achievement and social-emotional well-being through the district’s state-supported Local Control Accountability Plan, in addition to ACSA Master Schedule training workshops.
Marcus oversaw San Dieguito’s transition to distance learning for more than 13,000 students during the COVID-19 pandemic as well.
“In every role he has held, Mr. Marcus has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to equity, innovation, and student achievement,” Staffieri said. “His leadership inspires trust and confidence, fostering a culture where students feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.”
