The city of Encinitas seeks a new member of its Urban Forest Advisory Committee after a vacancy recently opened on the panel.
Applications to fill the vacancy, which was unplanned, are open now through Sept. 12, according to a city notice. The seat’s term ends March 1, 2026.
The Urban Forest Advisory Committee is made up of Encinitas residents who have interest and expertise in urban forestry. Among the panel’s duties, it advises the city on:
✔ Plans and policies regarding urban forestry, including guidance on the city’s Urban Forest Management Program and Administrative Manual.
✔ The Approved Tree Species Master List for City Council consideration.
✔ Heritage Tree applications in consultation with the city arborist.
✔ Recommendations to the Planning Commission.
Application forms must be completed online at the city’s website, and applicants may be asked to attend a City Council meeting to discuss their qualifications. The seat’s term will start upon appointment.
