ENCINITAS — North San Diego County residents can enjoy a viewing party for Monday, April 8’s solar eclipse from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Encinitas Library.
Although the eclipse will reach totality elsewhere in the United States, San Diego County is among the best spots in California to capture a good portion of it, weather permitting, according to astronomers. The region is expected to see about 55% of totality. Maximum coverage is expected to occur by around 11 a.m.
The morning’s activities include a presentation by San Diego State University astronomy graduate students, in addition to button-making and other crafts while supplies list. Free eclipse viewing glasses will also be available.
Encinitas Library is located at 540 Cornish Drive. The library’s phone number is 760-753-7376.
