Palomar Health Medical Group continues to investigate whether any personal or medical data was compromised after a cyber attack in early May.
The medical group announced on Aug. 15 that its digital operations, including scheduling, had been fully restored after the breach affected data and systems. The group worked with a third-party company to solve the problem, according to a news release.
“We value the trust and confidence our community has in our care and have taken every possible step to secure our systems and data,” Russ Riehl, interim president of Palomar Health Medical Group, said in the news release.
An investigation found that there was unauthorized access to some data, but prompt action to secure the affected data helped stem the information breach.
“Over the past two months, PHMG worked with its cybersecurity teams around the clock to recover and secure affected data,” Palomar Health Medical Group’s news release stated. “These comprehensive efforts ensured that affected data was recovered and removed from unauthorized locations.”
The medical group stated that it would directly communicate with affected individuals in the event specific data had been compromised.
Palomar Health Medical Group is affiliated with the public Palomar Health district covering inland North San Diego County.
