Oceanside loses to Del Norte in first round of CIF Division 1 playoffs

In last year’s CIF playoff contest, the Nighthawks of Del Norte High School defeated the visiting Pirates of Oceanside 26-11. It was almost a different scenario Friday, Nov. 8, on the field of Oceanside High as the favored No. 8 seed Pirates took an early 21-0 lead. Ultimately, though, the final score of 42-35 went in favor of the No. 9 Nighthawks.

The Knights of San Marcos High School improved their record at 24-6 and rode a six-game win streak, advancing to the semifinal round of the Division I CIF Boys Basketball Tournament as they defeated the 11-19 Hornets of Lincoln High School by a 73-52 score on Feb. 17.
