The city of Carlsbad will mark the completion of upgrades to the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium with a reopening event March 29.
Renovations to the city facility took about nine months beginning last June, according to a news release. Upgrades from the project include LED house and stage lights, a new surround sound system, 4K front projector and new rear projector, and an improved camera system.
Costs of the approximately $1.3 million renovation come from the city’s Infrastructure Replacement Fund.
The March 29 event starts at 5 p.m. in the Ann Kulchin Courtyard with a concert by The Camarada Tango Quartet beginning at 6 p.m.
The auditorium is part of the Carlsbad City Library complex located at 1775 Dove Lane in La Costa. Known as the Dove Library, the facilities opened in 1999 and the library underwent upgrades in 2016.
Events at the auditorium can be found on the city’s calendar page. The facility, which hosts the State of the City address, is also available for rentals.
