The Carlsbad Educational Foundation celebrated GivingTuesday on Dec. 3 by noting the funding of more than 40 programs this year, benefiting more than 11,000 students across Carlsbad Unified School District.
What does support of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation on GivingTuesday look like in action? For the first time in more than 20 years, CUSD elementary students had full-time music teachers. With the community’s support, the foundation is also providing all K-12 students with programs, materials, and experiences in art, science and career exploration.
“Creating opportunities like these is at the heart of what we do, but it’s only possible because of our incredible community that shows up to support our schools and our students each year,” said Laura Pitts, Carlsbad Educational Foundation CEO. “Together we can make a lasting impact, ensuring that every child in Carlsbad has access to enriching educational opportunities and a bright future.”
Here are some ways support can make a difference:
✔ $25 provides one student pottery paint brushes for the school year.
✔ $50 provides supplies for middle school science dissections for an entire class.
✔ $100 allows three students to participate in the 5th grade BizTown Field Trip, exploring career options.
✔ $500 purchases a new violin for a student in orchestra.
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eleven years, the idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.
“GivingTuesday inspires people all around the world to embrace their power to drive progress around the causes they care about, not just on one day but throughout the year,” said Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s CEO and co-founder. “With country and community leaders, millions of organizations, and countless givers of all kinds, GivingTuesday is creating a shared space where we can see the radical implications of a more generous world.”
