Oceanside CA— A highlight of its entertainment lineup, world-famous virtuoso cellist Marston Smith is gracing the event stage of the 24th annual Oceanside Days of Art.
Marston’s performance will take place 4:30 pm, Sunday, April 17, 2016. Marston Smith performs worldwide on a unique 6 stringed electric cello of his own design mounted on medieval battle armor. His music is the embodiment of epic romanticism. He has performed on the Tonight Show, Cirque du Soleil, International Jazz Festivals, and in Las Vegas casinos. He has recorded with the Backstreet Boys, KISS, Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, and has opened for the B-52s and Michael Buble. His music has also been featured in films including Out of Africa and An Officer and a Gentlemen. Marston has performed for Rupert Murdock, Tony Blair, Bill Clinton, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and corporate appearances include Google, eBay, Microsoft, Applied Materials, Intel, Toyota, General Mills, Universal/Segrams, Warner Brothers, Disney, and Fox. He even appeared as a cello-playing command division ensign in the Star Trek: The Next Generation third season episode “Sarek”.

Marston was big on drawing big crowds at Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation’s other large scale event last Fall, the 14^th annual Oceanside Music Festival. While he is still surfing the top tier of entertainment elite as a Master Musician, he is pleased to offer his top-notch entertainment for the North County audiences at Oceanside Days of Art, a free public event.
Other performers at Oceanside Days of Art this year include Tribal Belly Dance Guild, Oceanside Society Orchestra, Lincoln Middle School Quartet, Cowboy Jack, Star Theatre Company, Oceanside High School Choir, and more.
In addition to great food and entertainment during Oceanside Days of Art, the Carlsbad-Oceanside Art League will host an exhibit of artwork by high school students in Oceanside and Carlsbad at the Oceanside Photo and Telescope Gallery. The exhibition billed as “the biggest high school art show in the county” will be in the OPT Gallery below Oceanside Photo and Telescope, 918 Mission Ave.
