UEI College in Oceanside is a third-place recipient of the California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools’ 2025 Excellence in Community Service Award, the vocational and trade school announced April 7.
In a news release, UEI College officials said that the award underscores its approach to providing innovative, student-led service programs that address critical local needs.
“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition from CAPPS,” Jaclyn Marquez, Campus President of UEI College in Oceanside, said in the news release. “Our community service programs embody our mission to not only prepare students for successful careers but also empower them to create a meaningful difference in their communities. This award is a testament to the dedication of our students, faculty, and staff, as well as the strength of our partnerships with local organizations.”
The California Association of Private Postsecondary Schools, an education advocacy group based in Sacramento, launched its Community Service Awards program in 2016 to recognize community efforts in areas such as service learning and civic engagement. Awards are given in two categories: Large Schools with more than four locations and Small Schools of one to three locations.
UEI College officials mentioned three community initiatives geared toward its Oceanside service area:
✔ Community Vaccine Clinics that offer free flu shots, COVID-19 vaccines and health screenings to members.
✔ Annual Community Car Care events that offer free 14-point vehicle inspections to residents.
✔ Women’s Health & Wellness events that provide free dental exams, vaccinations and health education to underserved women.
“These programs are seamlessly integrated into UEI College’s academic offerings, providing hands-on, service-learning opportunities for students,” Marquez said in UEI’s announcement. “Medical Assistant students gain real-world patient care experience by conducting health screenings, while Automotive Technician students apply their technical skills during vehicle inspections. This approach not only benefits the community but also equips students with career-ready skills and confidence.”
UEI College in Oceanside was honored for its work at the organization’s Legislative Policy Conference.
