Encinitas’ Interim City Manager Jennifer Campbell will keep the job permanently after a unanimous vote of the City Council on March 5, the city announced.
The choice was made official during a closed-session meeting, according to a March 6 city announcement.
Campbell replaces Pam Antil, who left the position not long after the November election after about four years. She was named interim city manager in December upon Antil’s departure.
“We are excited to officially appoint Jennifer Campbell as City Manager,” Mayor Bruce Ehlers said in the city’s announcement. “Her extensive experience, leadership, and deep understanding of Encinitas make her the ideal person to lead our city forward.”
Campbell, who has about three decades of local government experience, joined the city of Encinitas in 2016 and served as assistant city manager starting in July 2021. Before joining Encinitas, she was the assistant city manager for Glendale, Arizona.
“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the City Manager of Encinitas,” Campbell said in the city’s announcement. “Encinitas is an incredible community, and I look forward to working with the City Council, staff, and residents to address our city’s needs and enhance the quality of life.”
Campbell holds a bachelor’s degree in recreation management and master’s degree in education with an emphasis in public administration. In addition, she is a member of the California City Management Foundation and credentialed member of the International City/County Management Association.
