Encinitas’ new mayor will give their first State of the City address March 20, hosted by the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce.
Bruce Ehlers won the mayor’s seat in last November’s election after serving a term as 4th District City Council member, representing areas including Olivenhain, Village Park and other portions bordering Carlsbad.
The annual event, taking place 5:30-8 p.m. at the Encinitas Community & Senior Center, serves as an opportunity for the mayor to update the community on the city’s overall status and share their vision for Encinitas.
“Encinitas is a special place, and this event is a chance to come together and celebrate all we’ve accomplished while looking ahead to an even brighter future,” Ehlers said in a Chamber of Commerce news release. “I’m excited to share my vision for the city and work together with our community to build upon the success we’ve already achieved.”
Representatives from the community’s three 101 Mainstreet Associations and Visit Encinitas will give also give updates.
Past addresses have drawn sellout crowds of about 300, according to the Chamber of Commerce.
“For over three decades, this event has been a highlight for the Encinitas community,” Encinitas Chamber of Commerce CEO Sherry Yardley said in the organization’s news release. “It’s a chance for all of us to reflect on our successes, share ideas, and make connections that will continue to strengthen our local businesses and overall quality of life. We look forward to celebrating the positive momentum happening in our city.”
The event begins with a cocktail reception 5:30-7 p.m. where attendees can meet City Council members, other local officials and community business owners. Encinitas restaurants will provide hors d’oeuvres. Beverages will be available for purchase. Music will be provided by the North Coast Symphony Orchestra.
The Encinitas Community & Senior Center is located at 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive. Tickets are $65 and $55 for Chamber of Commerce members. They can be purchased at encinitaschamber.com.
