Artists have until Jan. 27 to submit design proposals for a temporary kite sculpture exhibit in Vista.
The city’s Kites Over Vista 2025 project aims to promote Vista’s collection of public artwork and promote art overall, according to a city news release. At least five sculptures will be displayed in public areas of downtown Vista.
The city’s Public Arts Commission will conduct a juried competition to choose up to six works for presentation. From there, the selected artists will loan their artwork to the city for at least 12 months, with ownership remaining with the creators.
Interested artists must deliver kite models to the Recreation and Community Services Department, 200 Civic Center Drive, second floor, by 5 p.m. Jan. 27. The winning proposals will be selected at a Public Arts Commission meeting scheduled for Feb. 4. They will then be referred to the City Council for approval at its meeting scheduled for Feb. 25.
Selected artists must deliver their completed kite artwork for installation by May 1. Proposal information is available by clicking here for English or Spanish.
