The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce hosts its 60th Anniversary Celebration and Awards Dinner on Oct. 24 at ICA North, hosted by KFMB-TV CBS 8 personality and Encinitas native Jeff Zevely, to honor local businesses and nonprofits that embody the spirit of the community.
Zevely, a San Dieguito High School alumnus, was inducted into the Mustang Hall of Fame this year, honoring his achievements and contributions to Encinitas.
The celebration will commemorate six decades of fostering local commerce and community connections, serving as a tribute to those who have shaped Encinitas. The evening will feature a dinner and awards ceremony recognizing local businesses and charities that have made a lasting impact. Encinitas Mayor Tony Kranz and City Council members will attend along with state Congressional representatives.
The awards will celebrate excellence in several categories, including Outstanding Community Partner, Nonprofit Partner, Small Business, Large Business, Volunteer, Arts & Culture Partner, Chamber Champion, Green Business and Health & Wellness Business. Winners will be revealed during the evening, with voting having been open to the community over the past few months.
The evening will kick off with a reception featuring wine, beer, cocktails, paella, charcuterie and dessert, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing the extraordinary efforts of local businesses. Zevely will lead the festivities, sharing stories and engaging with guests to emphasize the essence of Encinitas.
“As a proud Leucadia native, I am honored to host this celebration of our incredible community,” Zevely said. “Growing up here, I spent countless summers at the beach and have seen firsthand how local businesses and organizations shape our vibrant city. This event is a wonderful opportunity to recognize their hard work and dedication while enjoying a night filled with laughter, good food, and cherished memories.”
Food will include paella, “edible art” prepared live at the event by the artisan Paella of San Diego Paul’s Paellas, along with live entertainment from local musician Brianna Grace and work by local artist Taylor Gallegos capturing the magic of the celebration on canvas as it unfolds.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone with the community we love and serve,” Encinitas Chamber of Commerce CEO Sherry Yardley said. “Our mission is to create lasting partnerships, support local businesses, and ensure Encinitas remains a vibrant and competitive place to live, work, and visit. This gala is not only a reflection of our past but a look toward the exciting future we are building together.”
The event runs 5-7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at ICA North’s Education Pavilion Garden, 1578 S El Camino Real. Parking will be available in the upper lots. Tickets are $75 for chamber members and $90 for non-members.
