OCEANSIDE — The 28th Annual Oceanside Independence Parade returns Saturday, June 29, with the theme “Celebrating Our Heritage” paying homage to Oceanside’s cultural richness and industrious roots.
The parade, hosted by MainStreet Oceanside with the support of the city of Oceanside, a San Diego County Community Enhancement Grant and Genentech, starts at 10 a.m. at the intersection of North Coast Highway and Wisconsin Avenue and will travel north on Coast Highway to Civic Center Drive. Led by the Marine Corps and Navy Band, the parade will feature entries from military, firefighters, elected officials, local car clubs, LGBTQ+ community groups, the Oceanside Roller Skaters and more.
This year’s event also highlights three Hometown Heroes, an annual initiative that honors Oceanside residents and organizations that have devoted their time and efforts to volunteer activities that enhance the quality of life in the community. This year’s honorees are homeless advocate Vanessa Graziano, San Diego Habitat Conservancy Volunteer Coordinator Mike Tenhover, and the North San Diego County Lions Club.
