4.2 quake felt throughout San Diego, centered near Palomar Observatory

People across San Diego, especially in North County, reported feeling an earthquake just after 6:15 p.m. on March 31.
The temblor, which registered a 4.2 magnitude, struck at 6:16 p.m. and was centered about 3 miles northwest of the Palomar Mountain Observatory, the U.S. Geological Survey stated.
Residents in inland and coastal North County communities reported feeling a sharp jolt when the quake hit, according to social media posts. The USGS Community Internet Intensity Map showed reports of the quake being felt from as far north as Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties south to Chula Vista and east to Borrego Springs.
No injuries or serious damage were reported as of 7:30 p.m.
