Oceanside CA— Gone are the days of the grease-covered, conventional manufacturing machinist. Today’s machinist must be highly trained with very specific education and skills, working in high-tech manufacturing plants that are both clean and innovative. CNC machines, lean manufacturing, along with great housekeeping and state-of-the-art facilities give a more accurate picture of American manufacturing today. The need for trained machinists to fill hundreds of positions in San Diego County has reached critical mass.
To meet this need, MiraCosta College is proud to offer this 487-hour not-for-credit program for individuals seeking a fast-paced, high-level training. Our program will prepare students for employment in machine shops and manufacturing facilities. Students who attend will experience an accelerated program that quickly prepares them to meet trade skill sets such as shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, precision measuring, machining procedures, tooling, and a basic understanding of both manual and CNC machining.
If you’re worried about losing income while you’re getting trained, we are offering new evening hours this fall. Class is scheduled 8/1-12/21, 4-10 PM.
MiraCosta College’s Machinist Technology Training Program has a 93% retention rate and a 92% employment rate. This program is perfect for students who are not traditional learners. If you like to work with your hands and learn best by doing, take this exciting step into a new career.
Scholarships are available and the program qualifies under the GI Bill. Check out our website at tci.miracosta.edu, or email us at tci@miracosta.edu for more information.
