Dozens cross border on June 26 for a taste of the up-and-coming region
San Diego CA— The Wine Pub kicks off summer by announcing its June 26 tour across the border to a series of notable family-owned wineries of the West Coast. The Point Loma restaurant promises guests an imitable experience in Valle de Guadalupe complete with VIP tours, exquisite tastings and experienced tour guides.
“Past guests have told us how much they appreciate not having to struggle with the logistics of international travel so they can indulge in a mini vacation with their friends,” said Sandy Hanshaw, owner of The Wine Pub. “Nestled into the valley of the Mexican wine country, the winemakers in this region have an incredible passion and the vineyards have striking history that we unveil on our tours. You won’t get this kind of experience traveling across the border solo.”
On the morning of Sunday, June 26, guests will depart from The Wine Pub for the cross-border journey in mini buses. The tour stops first in Tijuana for street seafood tacos at Mariscos El Mazateño, followed by tastings at Vena Cava and La Lechuza– two wineries known for their unprecedented tasting rooms and incredible views. The excursion will end with a wine-and-food-pairing dinner at Traslomita Cocina at Hacienda La Lomita – a winery Hanshaw calls, “one of the most sought-after destinations region wide.”
Special guest, wine connoisseur and Baja California expert, Fernando Gaxiola, will join Hanshaw to guide the tour using his insight into the region’s rich history of winemakers and family-owned wineries. Gaxiola owns the largest importer of Baja wines, Baja Food + Wine, which promotes boutique, family-owned and artisan wineries from Valle de Guadalupe—the region that produces 90 percent of artisan Mexican wine.
Tickets for The Wine Pub Valle de Guadalupe tours are $195 per person and include transportation, expedited border crossing, Tijuana food stop, all tastings and a wine-and-dinner pairing at Traslomita Cocina. Driver tips are not included. Reservations are required and available here.
Due to popularity, The Wine Pub anticipates a sold out tour. The next day trip to Baja California is scheduled for Saturday, September 17. Please click here for more information. Visit www.thewinepubsd.com to learn more about Point Loma’s best-kept secret, The Wine Pub.
