Oceanside CA— The Muramid Mural Museum and Art Center (the first mural museum in the world) located, 212 Artist Alley, Suite F between Mission Ave. and Pier View Way, , Oceanside, California is hosting a mural painting event today, until 7:30pm as a tribute and healing message to Floridians because of the shooting of over 100 people, 49 of which have been pronounced dead.
‘From Oceanside to Orlando’ with heartfelt sorrow and empathy to victims and families, and friends of victims, as well as all grieving people throughout the United States and the world is the theme of the five by nine-foot mural being produced by citizens of Oceanside.
The public is invited to paint their messages in the form of butterflies and dragonflies in order for the mural to be sent and received by Orlando citizens as our personal expression of grief and solidarity for this heinous crime. Professional muralist Marilyn Huerta will assist with the design by Joanne Tawfilis, co-owner of the Muramid Mural Museum and Art Center, along with Fouad Tawfilis and staff members Sheila Montez and Aurelia Valencia.
All materials are provided by the Muramid Mural Museum and Art Center and the museum will have special opening hours on today, June 13 from 11:30 – 7:30 pm.
Upon completion, the mural, painted on canvas, will be shipped overnight, to Orlando.
The Art Miles Mural Project and Muramid Mural Museum and Art Center has been painting murals for over two decades with healing murals sent wherever a natural or human disaster occurs. The objective of painting more than 4,000 murals is to support an advocacy for the Culture of Peace through the art of mural painting. To date more than ½ million people from over 100 countries have participated in mural events. Murals have been facilitated and created for the Widows of Srebrenica in Bosnia in 1996 (wives of 10,000 missing men), the 2001 September 11 tragedy, school shootings that have occurred on all continents where terrorists have attacked and to victims of floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires and tsunami’s
