Carlsbad CA— Late Tuesday night, April 26, 2016, at 11:33 p.m., officers from the Carlsbad Police Department responded to a traffic collision involving a single vehicle into a retaining wall at the intersection of Tamarack Avenue and Valley Street.
The preliminary investigation suggests that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Tamarack Avenue approaching the intersection of Valley Street.
For an unknown reason, the driver failed to negotiate the right bend in the roadway and collided with the north curb of Tamarack Avenue. The vehicle continued in an easterly direction and collided with a retaining wall, coming to rest on the northeast corner of Tamarack Avenue and Valley Street.
Carlsbad Fire Department personnel responded, extracted the three occupants of the vehicle, and transported them to Scripps La Jolla for their injuries. The cause of the collision is under investigation and alcohol does appear to be a factor.
The investigation is being handled by the Carlsbad Police Department Traffic Division. Anyone with information about this collision is encouraged to call the Carlsbad Police Department at 760-931-2197.
