Oceanside CA– MiraCosta College is proud to present, “Around the World in One Day” on October 29, 2014. The event is co-sponsored by the Institute for International Perspectives (IIP) and the MiraCosta College Film Department.
The two-part event will focus on the college’s mission to create global awareness by demonstrating respect for diversity and multiple perspectives, interconnection with the global community, and demonstration of cultural awareness.
The first part of the event is a Study Abroad Expo, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in Aztlan A & B. Students interested in studying abroad will have the opportunity to speak with study-abroad representatives and gather the information they need.
The second part of the event is a film presentation by Brian Hu, artistic director of Pacific Arts Movement, a group that holds the annual San Diego Asian Film Festival. The presentation will be 12:30–2 p.m. in Room 3601.
“As the college continues to promote global awareness as a part of its institutional student-learning outcomes, the upcoming Study Abroad Expo gives MiraCosta College students, faculty and staff the opportunity to learn about study-abroad programs from around the world,” said Aubrey Kuan Roderick, student services coordinator of the IIP and event coordinator.
This year marks the first collaboration between instructor Dr. Billy Gunn’s history of film class and Brian Hu, who aim to promote global awareness though film presentation and discussion.
The event will be held at the Oceanside Campus, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside, CA. 92056. People with disabilities are welcome and may request assistance during the event.
