Oceanside CA– Banned Books Month is an annual awareness campaign that celebrates the freedom to read and draws attention to banned and challenged books. Celebrate Banned Book Month with the Banned Book Challenge. Come into the library between September 14 and October 4, check out a Banned Book and get a prize. The Mission Branch, at 3861-B Mission Avenue and the Civic Center Library, at 330 N. Coast Highway, Adelante and the Bookmobile are all participating.
During this time period we will partner with Glassless Minds, Oceanside Local spoken word group on the Civic Center Plaza on September 25 at 5:30 p.m. We will also host two Banned Book Book Clubs. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini Book Discussion will be held at Civic Center Library on September 23 at 5:30 p.m. Bless Me Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya will be held in Spanish and in English at Mission Branch Library on September 30 at 4:30 p.m. All events are free and open to the public and sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.
