Encinitas CA– The second Encinitas drowning victim succumbed to injuries sustained when he was caught in a rip current. The victim, Bacilio Manuel-Tomas, was a married 39 year old, Guatemalan male. On 5/29/2014, he was pulled from the water at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, along with his nephew, after they were swept away by a riptide. They were transported to the hospital where the decedent’s condition failed to improve. Manuel-Tomas was pronounced dead on June 14, 2014.
His nephew, Gerardo Cruz-Manuel of Guatemala, passed away on June 2, 2014.
