Oceanside CA- Friends of Oceanside Parks, a non-profit group founded in 2011, has again decided to donate nearly 3000 American flags to Oceanside’s Independence Day Parade.
The Annual Oceanside Independence Day Parade will occur on Saturday, June 28th. The downtown Oceanside parade will take place, as usual, on Coast Highway from Wisconsin Avenue to Civic Center Drive. The event kicks off at 10:00 a.m. and ends at noon with more than 100 parade entries expected to march, roll, walk and drive down the famous 101 Coast Highway.
David Palmatier, Chairman of the Board for the Friends of Oceanside Parks said, “We loved having all the flags given to others so much that we decided to keep it a priority for this year. Soon after last year’s parade, the board agreed it just had to do it again and now it’s one of our largest monetary contributions to the community.”
The “Made-In-USA” premium cloth 4×6 and 8×12 flags will be handed out by MainStreet Oceanside parade volunteers and Oceanside ROTC high school members to parade watchers and those participating in the patriotic event.
“All these flags definitely engages people with the parade and stands by the theme of the parade, “Show Your Pride- Oceanside”, added Palmatier, who remembers most fondly the small children along the parade route waving those flags with huge smiles.
