Oceanside CA- Oceanside residents lined up early for the inaugural Seaside Pet Clinic at St Mary, Star of the Sea school, Saturday morning. The event was organized by the Oceanside Coastal Neighborhood Association. “We are really happy with the turn out” said Amy Deleon, with the neighborhood association. “People were lined up around the corner when we first started.”
There was a steady line of people getting $10.00 microchips and low cost vaccinations for their pets. Vera Heidolph, DVM said “It’s hard to beat the prices of the shots at these events. ” The vaccinations were $6.00 opposed to the $20-30 dollars plus exam fee you will pay when you got to the vets office.
Heidolph owns the ‘Pet Bus’ and travels throughout the county participating in affordable licensing, vaccination and microchip events sponsored by the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA. The low prices for the shots are only available during the events, which are normally held the fourth Saturday of the month. The Humane Society Event calendar can be found here [Link]
Low cost nail trims were also available and the San Diego Humane Society offered on-site pet adoptions. “We were testing the waters with this event and wanted to see what the response would be.” said Deleon. People from all over Oceanside brought their pets “There were some people that live by the back gate at Camp Pendleton who came all the way here for this today.” continued Deleon ” Next year we will advertise this more and have a bigger event.”
The next San Diego Humane Society affordable licensing, vaccination and microchip event, in Oceanside will be at; Landes Park 2855 Cedar Road on Saturday, April 26 from 10:00AM to Noon.
