Oceanside CA- San Diego County Sheriff Deputy Weiss observed a black Nissian 240 fail to stop at a red light. A pursuit ensued, the license plate provided during the chase revealed the vehicle was stolen from Oceanside.
The vehicle traveled down a dead end road and turned around facing Deputy Weiss. Deputy Weiss blocked the vehicle and exited his patrol car while addressing the subject. The subject immediately drove towards Deputy Weiss nearly striking Deputy Weiss and his patrol vehicle. Deputy Weiss engaged in a traffic pursuit which continued for about 10 miles on Valley Center streets.
The suspect crashed at Paradise Mountain Road and Lake Wohlford Road and then fled. ASTREA was overhead monitoring and broadcasting the pursuit while providing deputies with directions of travel. Sheriff Canines were used to search the Armstrong Chicken Ranch where the suspect was last seen running.
Units from Escondido Police Department and the San Marcos Station assisted with the search. Additionally, during the search for the suspect, a local resident contacted the Sheriff’s Department referencing a suspicious person. The resident described a similar vehicle parked in front of the neighbor’s driveway.
This suspect was confronted by the neighbor and then fled. Deputies are investigating a possible burglary and actively searching for the suspect from the stolen vehicle.

Hit and Run Collision causing Power Outage, San Marcos

In an unrelated incident, Deputies received a radio call regarding a hit and run collision in which a vehicle had struck a power pole causing the pole and its lines to fall into lanes of Nordahl Road. A power outage caused by the collision effected numerous residences and businesses in the immediate area.
The involved vehicle was unoccupied upon the arrival of responding deputies. SDG&E was notified and responded to the location to repair the damaged pole and lines. According to SDG&E personnel, the repair will take most of the day. Nordahl Road will be closed between Knob Hill Road and Rock Springs Road until repairs are complete.
Deputy Duong from the San Marcos Traffic Division is handling the investigation related to the collision.
