Oceanside CA- Sheriff Bill Gore today announced the arrest of Dwayne Farrell, (DOB 8/15/90) on charges of burglary. Farrell was taken into custody outside his residence in San Marcos by Sheriff’s Deputies shortly after 2:30 Monday afternoon.
Farrell is believed responsible for the two hot prowl events on Sunday at the apartment complex located in the 500 block of Rush Avenue in San Marcos. In the first one, at approximately 5:15 a.m., he gained entrance into the first-floor apartment and stood over a 7-year-old child’s bed. He fled through the living room sliding glass doors, after the little girl saw him. Approximately 25 minutes later, a woman sleeping with her 8-year-old child, in the same apartment complex, on the second level, heard heavy breathing and discovered an unknown male beside their bed. This time, he fled outside the balcony and jumped two stories to the ground. It was under that balcony investigators found blood evidence that led to the arrest of Farrell.
DNA recovered at the scenes was entered into the Sheriff’s local DNA database and a match was made to Farrell. The DNA match was confirmed Monday morning at approximately 9:00. Farrell will be housed at the Vista Detention Facility pending his initial appearance
