Oceanside CA- There was no hitting the Quarterback in the Pirates scrimmage, against Torrey Pines, Friday night at Simcox Field but the hitting in the trenches was just as hard as any regular season game. Oceanside scored 21 points in the first quarter and a half before the scrimmage went to a two-minute drill format. Both teams were a bit rusty, early, with several drive killing penalties. Torrey Pines had trouble with the Center-QB exchange as several snaps went over the Quarterbacks head.
The two teams begin their regular seasons next Friday night, August 30. The Pirates are on the road against St. Augustine High School, 7:00pm at Mesa College. Torrey Pines opens at home against San Pasqual.
