Incident is the second near airfield since February

Oceanside CA— One person was killed and another injured when a small plane crashed east of the Oceanside Municipal Airport just after 1:45 p.m. Friday, June 3, authorities reported.
It is the second crash near the airport in four months.
Oceanside Fire Department units responded to the scene, just east of Foussat Road and state Route 76, within five minutes of the report, which came in at about 1:48 p.m., the Fire Department stated. Rescuers found two people trapped in the fuselage. Hydraulic-powered cutters were used to open a door and pull the victims out.
One victim was transported to Tri-City Medical Center where the person was later pronounced dead, the Fire Department stated. The condition of the second victim was not available.
The victims’ descriptions and identities were not released. Official details of the make and model of plane and affiliation also were not available.
The Oceanside Police Department also responded to the incident. The agency did not have additional details when contacted by OsideNews.
Several regional news outlets reported that the victims were a man and woman aboard a GoJump Oceanside aircraft. The woman died in the crash, according to media reports.
Federal Aviation Administration officials and National Transportation Safety Board investigators are investigating the incident, authorities said.
The crash is the second near the Oceanside airport in four months. Two people suffered moderate to severe injuries in a crash on Feb. 24.
