Oceanside, CA— Two people suffered moderate to severe injuries in a plane crash Thursday, Feb. 24, near the Oceanside Municipal Airport, authorities reported.
The single-engine Cessna 208B hit a field about a half mile short of the airport at 12:46 p.m., police and fire officials reported. Firefighters arrived at the scene within three minutes of the crash.
Two men, who have not been identified, were pulled from the wreckage and taken to local hospitals. One of the men was taken by air ambulance for treatment of critical injuries, the Oceanside Police Department stated in a report. The other man was transported by ground ambulance for treatment of moderate injuries.
The Oceanside Fire Department sent 26 personnel to the scene, the department reported.
Federal Aviation Administration officials and National Transportation Safety Board investigators are at the crash site, authorities said.
