Oceanside CA— The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library are delighted to announce that they are once again able to accept donations of books, magazines, DVDs and CDs.
Smaller donations can be taken to the Mission Branch Library (as space allows), or to the Civic Center Library’s circulation desk in the atrium. Larger donations can be taken to the Civic Center Library loading dock on Civic Center Drive Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donors may park in the loading dock area and ring the doorbell for assistance. Donations of more than eight boxes or bags are by appointment only; please ask a Library staff member for information.
Friends of the Library President Chris Wilson said, “The Oceanside community has a long history of generously donating their books and other items to the Library. Some of those items become part of the Library’s collection, while others are sold on Amazon, at Oceanside’s weekly Farmers Market, and at the Friends’ bookstores at the Civic Center and Mission Branch Libraries. These sales are a crucial source of revenue, and ceased when the pandemic closed the Library in March 2020. After the Library reopened, we were still unable to accept donations due to relocating our book-sorting facility. That facility has been secured, the move is complete, and we’re eager – and grateful – to accept the community’s books, magazines, DVDs and CDs, and resume this key piece of our fundraising. All the funds the Friends raise help support the Library’s special events, programs for all ages, and the purchase of new books and other materials.”
The mission of the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library is to support and promote the services and resources of the Oceanside Public Library through community involvement, volunteer activities, and fundraising.
