Carlsbad CA— Charles Smith found his passion for wine while on tour in Europe when he was managing musicians. In 2001 Charles released his first vintage and sold over 330 cases. Over some time, Charles had been acknowledged as Winemaker of the Year by publications such as Food & Wine Magazine, Wine Enthusiast, and Seattle Magazine. Since his wine debut, Charles Smith, the three-time Winemaker of the Year, has produced over 800 wines with 90+ points.
Gelson’s invites San Diegans to a virtual wine tasting hosted by the award-winning winemaker on August 26, 2021, at 6 pm. During the event, Charles will guide taste buds through the pairing of each wine with the perfect bite. The two featured wines, a 2017 Sixto Uncovered Chardonnay (95 points) for $32.99 and a 2018 K Vintners Motor City Kitty Syrah (98 points) for $36.99, will be available to buy in-store.
Pair these wines with the Gelson’s Custom Cheese & Charcuterie Plate for $24.99 (serves two). This plate includes Beecher’s Flagship Cheddar, Cowgirl Creamery Mr. Tam, Pecorino Toscano, La Tur, Three Little Pigs Jambon De Paris, Columbus Peppered Salami – served with Dried Apricots and Cherries.

The specially priced wines, along with the cheese and charcuterie plate, will be available for pick-up on August 25 and 26, 2021 at Gelson’s Pacific Beach, Gelson’s Del Mar, and Gelson’s Carlsbad.
