The foundation’s signature event helps support children battling cancer and will celebrate a milestone of over one million miles traveled and 4,000 children served throughout Southern California
San Diego CA— You’re invited! The Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF), a nonprofit helping families navigate their child’s journey through battling cancer, hosts their 18th annual Harvest for Hope food and wine tasting fundraiser on Saturday, September 12 from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. at Coasterra. The in-person event consists of an oceanfront and outdoor venue, as well as some of San Diego’s most renowned chefs, creating unique dishes paired with wine. 100% of Harvest for Hope’s proceeds go toward ENF’s free programs for low-income families whose children are battling cancer.
“The Emilio Nares Foundation is thrilled to return to an in-person event format for our 18th annual Harvest for Hope Fundraiser,” says Diane Nares, Co-founder of the Emilio Nares Foundation. “Community is at the heart of the foundation and what we do, so we’re excited to reconnect with those who’ve joined us at past events and welcoming those who will join us for the first time with open arms.”
Harvest for Hope helps children battling cancer receive a chance to survive and receive life-saving medical treatment. With the goal of helping low-income and underserved families with children battling cancer meet basic needs, particularly transportation, community is at the core of what The Emilio Nares Foundation represents. This year’s $300,000 goal will primarily support ENF’s flagship program, Ride with Emilio, which expanded to Los Angeles to service children receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital LA. The program hit 1 million miles traveled in 2020, safely transporting 4,000 children in Southern California to chemo treatments, doctor’s appointments and returning them home safely.
Even after one of the toughest years for the restaurant industry, ENF is grateful for the support it’s received from some of California’s finest. Attendees will enjoy a variety of bites and sips from restaurants, breweries and wineries including, Banfi, Chambers & Chambers, Ciccia Osteria, Coasterra, Crust Pizzeria, Daou Vineyard & Winery, Great Maple Modern American Eatery, Kobrand, Niner Winery, Ranch 45, Solare Ristorante, Sushi on a Roll, Sweet Cheeks Baking Co., Tami Ratliffe Catering, Thorn Brewing Co., Torrey Wines, Transcendent Wines, and Venissimo Cheese.
The Emilio Nares Foundation recognizes it takes a village to care for a child with cancer, creating ENF’s mission to ensure all children with cancer get safely to and from their treatments. Some children whose families don’t have cars are unable to get them to necessary medical appointments to have a fighting chance. This campaign gives families the gift of hope, helping navigate through their child’s journey with cancer, ensuring no child misses a medical treatment due to lack of transportation.
“The Emilio Nares Foundation logs more than 75,000 miles each year driving children from low-income families to and from their cancer treatments,” says Karen Terra, President and CEO of the Emilio Nares Foundation. “Harvest for Hope is designed to increase awareness for childhood cancer and help raise money for low-income, underprivileged families whose child is battling cancer.”
