Country clubs competed in golf tournament to benefit our homeless neighbors

Vista CA— On Monday, June 14^th, eleven country clubs participated in Battle of the Clubs, a highly competitive team-play golf event aimed to raise awareness around homelessness in San Diego County. The event, which took place at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, was sponsored by Mission Fed Credit Union and raised $50,000 for the San Diego Rescue Mission, a nonprofit organization that works to transform the lives of those experiencing homelessness, impacting San Diego one life at a time.
Former Padres player and Hall of Fame pitcher, Randy Jones, gave a welcoming address and Neville Bilimoria, SVP of Membership and Chief Advocacy Officer at Mission Fed, gave an inspiring speech at the closing ceremony. Shadow Ridge Golf Club took home the coveted traveling trophy after receiving the best combined score of their two teams composed of staff and club members.
“We had some of the best golf clubs in San Diego County come together to play golf and raise awareness about homelessness, our city’s number one issue,” said Donnie Dee, CEO of the San Diego Rescue Mission, who educated the participants on the Myths of Homelessness. “We are incredibly thankful to have Mission Fed as the sponsor of the tournament. Seeing the community come together and use their influence to help change the state of homelessness in our city is such a blessing.”
“We are the 8^th largest city and have the 4^th largest homeless problem,” explained Bilimoria. “Let’s make a commitment to change homelessness together by sticking to the A, B & C’s. A standing for awareness, B for Benevolence and C for Commitment to do something. Together, we can make a difference.”
