As part of the Broadway San Diego Awards, SDCCU is giving the winning teacher a pair of Season Tickets to Broadway San Diego’s 44th Season

The Best Local Theatre Teacher Award is part of the Broadway San Diego Awards, a competition for high school students who are talented in musical theater. The winning teacher will receive a pair of season tickets to Broadway San Diego’s 44th season along with parking.
Students, parents, family members and friends can nominate and vote for a deserving theatre teacher in San Diego County who has made a positive difference in their life, the life of a child or in the community. To nominate and vote, visit sdccu.com/theatreteacher. Once a teacher is nominated and approved, the voting begins! Voters can return to the page daily through May 7, 2021. Nominations and voting will close on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. The Best Local Theatre Teacher Award will be presented at the 2021 Virtual Broadway San Diego Awards on Thursday, May 20, 2021. The 2021 Broadway San Diego Awards, sponsored by SDCCU and held in collaboration with Broadway San Diego, is a unique scholarship opportunity for talented high school students who have chosen to pursue a career in musical theatre. This is the 7th year that Broadway San Diego is producing the competition locally—it is the local branch of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards and has been in existence since 2009. Both the local and national competitions are programs of the Nederlander Organization.
In an effort to celebrate students amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the San Diego chapter created this virtual program and online ceremony. This year’s competition will be unique in that high schools will not be required to produce a full musical, as in years past. Two winners will move on to represent our region at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards also known as the Jimmy Awards on July 15, 2021. They will meet virtually and perform with champions from across the country to compete on a Broadway stage for a chance at winning various prizes.
