• First program successfully engaged over 25,700 youth
• Youth Will leaders available to discuss program’s impact San Diego
San Diego CA— In an ongoing response to the impacts of COVID-19, Youth Will has launched its second Youth Emergency Resource Ambassador Program, aimed at sharing resources and information to vulnerable youth in San Diego. The program will increase access to public health information and services for youth between the ages of 16-25 who come from diverse communities. The program will reach and connect more youth through informational text messaging campaigns, robust social media outreach, and hosting youth workshops.
Youth ambassadors will focus on specific issues in order to support youth. These action teams include: food & housing, transportation, youth justice, healthcare, youth expression, and education. Simultaneously, the program will develop youth leadership by encouraging civic engagement and involvement in decision-making at the city, county, state and federal levels.
The first Youth Emergency Resource Ambassador Program saw massive success from June – August 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the 10 youth ambassadors, they collectively accomplished the following:
- Contacted 25,727 youth and reached a total of 3,020 directly and indirectly
- Out of 3,020, youth ambassadors had direct connections with 2,503 youth
- Out of 3,020 youth, 517 accessed resources from Youth Will’s Linktree
- Received funding from the Aspen Institute’s Opportunity Youth Forum Rapid Response Fund to continue the program in 2021
