San Marcos CA— The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is looking for additional victims of a man suspected in a series of sexual battery and lewd conduct incidents across San Diego
County.
On January 4th, Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the Walmart located in the 700 block of Center Drive in San Marcos.
The reporting party told deputies they recognized a man believed to be the suspect in the sexual battery series who had recently been featured in a Crime Stoppers bulletin/video, as well as on local media. They remained on the phone with deputies and led them to the suspect’s location within the store. He was arrested without incident.
Ji Hoon Yong (DOB 6/2/95) was arrested on charges of lewd behavior in a public place and providing false identifying information to police.
He is believed to be the person responsible for a series of sexual battery incidents being investigated by the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station and Vista Sheriff’s Station. The San Diego Police Department has been investigating similar cases dating back to July 2020.
Yong is currently being held at the San Diego Central Jail on $500,000 bail.
