Oceanside CA— Featured speakers on Wednesday, August 19, are Ryan Keim, Oceanside City Councilmember, District 3 and Peter Weiss, Mayor of Oceanside, They are 2020 Candidates for the City Council of Oceanside; Keim for District 3 and Weiss for District 4.
Ryan Keim was appointed to the City Council in January 2019. In 2004, he served on the Police and Fire Commission until he joined the Oceanside Police Department in 2006. Ryan worked in numerous assignments including the Neighborhood Policing Team and the Gang Suppression Unit. After suffering an on-duty injury, Ryan retired medically then joined SD County Sheriff’s Department as Public Affairs Director and member of the Sheriff’s Executive Management Team. His priorities are enhancing public safety, increasing and diversifying economic opportunities for the City, and reducing traffic congestion.
Mayor Peter Weiss has elected to run in November for the position of City Councilmember, District 4. Peter earned his degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1981. He is a registered Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor and has been with the City of Oceanside since 1986. Peter was the City Engineer and Public Works Director before becoming City Manager. Over the years, he has been active in Boy Scouts and a variety of youth sports programs. Peter is still active in community sports as a coach and referee for the Tri-City Inline Hockey League.
