Round 10 of grantmaking totals more than $1.1 million to 17 nonprofit organizations

San Diego CA— The San Diego Foundation announced the San Diego COVID-19 Community Response Fund has granted $11.1 million to more than 100 local nonprofit organizations working on the frontline of the COVID-19 health and economic crisis.
The latest round of rapid response grants, totaling more than $1.1 million, will assist San Diegans impacted by the pandemic by providing health services to youth and families experiencing trauma, equipment to first responders and frontline workers, and safe housing for low-income families and individuals.
“We are at the beginning of what will be a long process of recovery in our region,” shared Mark Stuart, President & CEO of The San Diego Foundation. “Since launching the COVID-19 Community Response Fund two months ago, we have witnessed incredible acts of generosity and it will continue to take an unprecedented philanthropic response to help all the San Diegans in need over the coming months and years.”
To date, the San Diego COVID-19 Community Response Fund has raised $14.5 million in donations through more than 3,050 individuals, businesses, foundations and donor-advised funds.
Since March, donor-advised fundholders at The San Diego Foundation have granted an additional $15 million to the nonprofit community, a 100 percent increase compared with the same period one year ago.
The latest round of rapid response grants includes:
San Diego Regional Fire Foundation – $225,000
To provide safety and personal protective equipment for fire personnel serving rural, low-income and underserved communities.
College Futures Foundation – $200,000
To provide emergency assistance for undocumented students and former foster youth.
Elizabeth Hospice – $176,515
To provide critical care and health services to San Diegans in need, including pediatric patients.
Family Health Centers of San Diego – $100,000
To provide financial assistance to healthcare workers on the frontlines and experiencing economic hardship due to COVID-19.
Parent Institute for Quality Education – $100,000
To provide multi-lingual, digital education resources for children and families.
San Ysidro Health Center – $100,000
To provide bilingual telemedicine services, personal protective equipment, food security and other resources to families, children and seniors.
Mid-City CAN (via Mission Edge) – $75,000
To protect the health and safety of public transportation workers and riders.
Crossroads Foundation – $50,000
To provide safety equipment and critical resources to protect women suffering from addiction.
Building Skills Partnership – $25,000
To provide financial assistance, employment support and job training for janitorial staff and other service workers.
Foundation for Women Warriors – $25,000
To provide stable housing and childcare for female veterans and their children.
Los Angelitos de Encinitas – $25,000
To provide food security to low-income families and children.
Center on Policy Initiatives – $20,000
To provide technical support and flexible resources to community organizations impacted by COVID-19.
Big Sister League of San Diego – $15,000
To provide food security, safe housing and trauma-informed care for women in residential programs.
Camp Laurel – $10,000
To provide mental health services for children and youth affected by HIV/AIDS, as well as transgender and gender-diverse youth.
GenerateHope – $10,000
To provide food security, healthcare and other emergency services for female survivors of sex trafficking.
Alabaster Jar Project – $5,000
To provide basic needs and support services to survivors of human trafficking.
Amigas Punto Com – $5,000
To provide critical resources and support for Hispanic women, youth and families overcoming domestic violence.
