Carlsbad CA—The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce announced the finalists for the 2020 Carlsbad Business Achievement & Distinction Awards, which are grouped into three big categories: Education Awards, Business Awards and Community Awards. Winners will be announced at the Carlsbad Business Achievement & Distinction (CBAD) Awards Luncheon: Bridge to the Future on Thursday, March 19, 2020, from 10:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa.
“We love showcasing and celebrating all those that make an impact in our community. This event brings everyone together to encourage us all to be the best we can be,” said President and CEO of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, Bret Schanzenbach.

The feature presentation this year will be an interview with Founding Chairman and CEO Emeritus of Qualcomm® Dr. Irwin Jacobs. “Since my retirement, I often meet with young entrepreneurs who want advice on how to start the next Qualcomm,” says Dr. Jacobs. “I always enjoy sharing the lessons that I have learned in starting both Linkabit and Qualcomm, including leadership by example, perseverance, and working cooperatively to solve problems.”
The interview will be conducted by the Founder/Owner of Fortis Fitness and Strength Training & YOGALUX, Adam Jacobs, who is also a board member of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and Dr. Jacobs’ grandson. “Having grown up in North County, it amazes me how much this region has to offer,” says Adam Jacobs. “The thing that stands out the most is the incredible community that has been built. The people are truly the heart of soul of this region!”
KUSI News Anchor and North County local, Lauren Phinney, will act as master of ceremonies.
