San Diego CA— Providing much needed comfort to families with a hospitalized child, Tempur-Pedic is donating 100 mattresses, foundations and bedframes valued at over $100,000 to San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House for use in all of the charity’s overnight guest rooms.
More than 60 volunteers removed existing beds from the organization’s 56 overnight guestrooms and simultaneously upgraded with 100 Tempur-Pedic mattresses, foundations and bedframes for family members who have a child or sibling in the hospital. A local donor provided all new bedding and pillows to round out the massive guest room re-supply project.
“Providing families with a comfortable place to stay gives them the chance to stay close and provide support to their hospitalized child,” said Chuck Day, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. “We are grateful to receive this generous donation from Tempur-Pedic to enhance our accommodations and help us create an emotional and physical sanctuary for the families we serve.”
Tempur-Pedic has been a proud donor of Ronald McDonald House Charities since 2009. Through their partnership with RMHC Global, Tempur-Pedic provides support to U.S. House and Family Room programs with the donation of beds, frames, foundations and mattress protectors. Every Fall/Winter Chapters from across the country are able to submit their list of needs and Tempur-Pedic works throughout the year to fulfill all orders. Nearly 3,500 units of Tempur-Pedic product will be donated this year alone, which excludes 1,600 mattress protectors, providing much needed budget-relieving support to Chapters that they can redirect the cost savings to other needs.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego provides a wide range of services – including lodging, meals and emotional support – to families who have a critically ill or injured child being treated at a San Diego-area hospital. Each year, the House provides more than 20,000 nights of lodging to families.
